BA (Hons), DClinPsy
My name is Sam. I am a U.K. trained, Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, with accreditation from the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). I have recently relocated from London to Nairobi to set up my own private practice (Reflect Psychological Therapy Services).
I am a kind, thoughtful and welcoming Clinical Psychologist who entered this profession with a strong belief in the resilience of the human mind. My passion is to support people to discover this resilience within themselves, and then harness it as a tool to navigate the challenges that life invariably throws at us. I see therapy as a journey that therapist and client embark on together, using creativity, reflection and a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship to evoke desired changes in a client’s life. Targeting patterns whereby past pain and trauma dictate one's present and future is something I feel to be a key goal of therapy. I aim to support clients to rebuild, enrich, and move forward with their lives with an understanding of their past and the inner strength this knowledge confers them.
Working internationally has equipped me with the sensitivity and curiosity required to work flexibly within different cultural conceptualisations of mental health. I see therapy as the uniting of two minds, each with different areas of expertise. I embrace the opportunity to learn as much from you as I hope you can from me.

But by the incredible ability to heal”

SERVICES
I offer 1:1 sessions to people over the age of 18.
I will be offering either face to face or remote sessions to Nairobi based clients. I will also be offering remote sessions to either U.K. based clients, or Kenya-based clients living outside Nairobi.
For Kenya based clients, each 60-minute session costs KES14,000.
For U.K. based clients, each 60-minute session costs £120.
Fee is payable before each session and cancellations will be charged at the full rate unless 48 hours’ notice is given.
I am very happy to offer a free 15 minute consultation to help decide if I am the right psychologist for you.
Please get in touch if you want to find out more or to book your initial consultation.
The therapy I offer will routinely have foundations in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT involves developing skills to help you challenge the way you think and behave in response to difficult situations. It is a collaborative approach, which involves discovering the patterns that are keeping problems going, and working together to break out of these and towards meaningful change in your life. For more information on CBT please visit this NHS website.
Beyond these foundations, I strive to offer an individualised therapy experience, tailored to each clients’ needs. As such, I will often draw on other modalities including compassion focussed therapy (CFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative exposure therapy (NET), as well as mindfulness-based approaches.
Therapy will always begin by us agreeing upon a shared goal or direction– an anchor which will keep our work on track. We will work as a team, and you will experience therapy as an active rather than passive process. Above all, I want therapy to offer a safe, warm, contained space where you feel able to express yourself, challenge yourself (and me!), and nurture yourself into a position of inner strength and peace.
